Sole Mates

When you think of an ‘IT’ shoe generally images of skyscraper stilettos and statement-making over-the-knee-boots come to mind. If like me though, you dread the thoughts of squeezing your feet into sky-high heels (I am mos def a trainers/ ankle boots kinda gal – must be getting old) then fear not! The shoe of the season is not only super stylish and chic but is also the most comfortable style around…Hallelujah!! Meet the slipper mule/ loafer trend.

Now unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last few months, you’ll have noticed the eponymous Gucci loafer taking the street style and blogging worlds by storm. As a result the high street has become flooded with look alikes meaning there is now a style to suit all tastes and budgets. Loafers and mules were super popular for AW and with fresh new variations for Spring, it is a trend that is set to stick around.

Traditionally only worn by men, the loafer style shoe is an incredibly chic and versatile style. These (sometimes) masculine shoes can look equally as sophisticated with skinny/ boyfriends jeans, a midi skirt or styled with cigarette trousers for the office. Adding a loafer/ mule to your look instantly ups the ante, adding an edge to even the simplest outfit.

There are literally hundreds of styles from metallic and embellished to fur lined and animal print. I have picked my favourites for spring below (click on the images to shop the shoe).

Happy shopping!
