So you might have noticed that I’ve been a little quiet here on the blog over the last week or so. I had some family stuff going on so between that and the fact that I just wasn’t feeling it last week, I decided to head home to Galway for a few days much needed R&R. The weather was fabulous and I even got to go to the beach for the first time this year!! OK enough of my rambling, I didn’t come here to talk to you about the weather!
This season there’s a pretty big jewellery trend that is catching on in a major way: the statement earring. For Spring Summer earrings are large and in charge; the more shoulder dusting the piece the better! Think tassels, bold colours and interesting shapes and you have this trend pretty nailed. While you might think that they are strictly for dressing up, these oversized pieces are so versatile that you can wear them with anything at anytime of the day. Trust me!
I’ve never been known for the minimalism of my accessories so this trend is one that I am absolutely loving. A statement earring is a super easy way of adding colour and interest to a basic outfit and can instantly make you look like you made more effort than you actually did. Being lazy when it comes to my day to day off-duty dressing, this really appeals to me! Statement earrings look equally good paired with a slogan tee and ripped jeans for day time as they do with a dress for a night out.
Everyone from designers to high street stores have amazing statement earrings right now so there is no reason why your lobes can’t get in on the action. I have picked up some beaut pairs recently so expect to see Pat Butcher-esque earrings featuring heavily on my insta from now on.
