Style Staples: The Blazer

When you think of blazers you might think of school uniforms and stuffy corporate wear but the traditional blazer has been re-imagined this season. A firm favourite with those super chic Parisian gals whose style we all admire, the blazer is the ultimate style staple.

Lazy girl glam is most definitely a statement I would use to describe my own day to day style and there is no better way to make it look like you made an effort than throwing on a tailored blazer. On the fashion week catwalks we saw the traditional blazer reworked in every colour, shape and style imaginable proving there is most definitely one out there to suit everyone.

While the stores are currently full of blazers in bold colours and prints, I was on the hunt for a new blazer to add to my wardrobe basics that was neutral and versatile. It had to be a piece that would work with lots of other items in my wardrobe as well as being a transitional piece to take me into Autumn. After trawling every online shopping site, I kept coming back to this Double Breasted Checked Blazer from Zara. Not only is it a bit of a ringer for Isabel Marant’s checked blazers, the neutral colour means it goes with a lot of my existing pieces. The shoulder pads and double breasted design add to the structured style. I also love how the check print makes a subtle but chic statement.

I’ve recently only been buying pieces that I will wear at least 30 times in a bid to avoid consuming too much fast fashion. Anyone who follows me on Instagram will have seen a lot of this blazer on my feed recently (as well as on every other bloggers insta lol!!) so it is already well on it’s way to the 30 wear mark. It works equally well over boyfriend jeans and a tee for a casual day time look as it does with skinnies, a lace cami and heels for an easy but polished night time look. When the weather finally gets it’s act together I also plan on wearing it over a denim skirt.

Dressed up or down, there’s no denying the blazer is a wardrobe hero. I’ve listed my top blazer picks below and you can shop the item directly by clicking on the images.

Stylishly yours,

Trish xx
