Gingham was one of those trends that literally just exploded overnight. One minute we were avoiding it like the plague for fear of looking like a tablecloth, the next we were snapping up gingham covered skirts, tops and shoes like there was no tomorrow. According to Pinterest, searches for gingham outfits increased by 100% on last year!
There is something quintessentially summer feeling about gingham which is part of the attraction and I happily went balls deep into the trend. And while gingham is still seriously trending (if Anna Wintour is wearing it who am I to argue), dare I say it I am getting a little bored of it. Luckily for me, there is a new print in town. Say hello to your new favourite print, the polka dot! While the polka dot never really goes out of fashion, it is seriously trending right now.
At some point in our childhood’s we were all dressed in childish dots but this season think less Minnie Mouse and more Julia Robert’s in Pretty Woman as your style inspo. The classic polka dot has gotten a modern update and can add a slightly prim but thoroughly playful edge to your look. To avoid looking overly feminine supersize those spots. If you’re feeling bold, mix polka dots with floral for extra print appeal!
